| We currently provide education from Grade R to Grade 7. Our classes have a maximum of 30 learners and our educators provide teaching of the highest caliber.
Foundation Phase Our Foundation Phase Department offers children a warm and nurturing environment in which to experience their first few years of formal schooling. The classrooms are spacious and provide ample room for formal desk areas, interest corners and mat work.
The core objectives of Outcomes Based Education are incorporated into every day, by means of teaching to children's strengths and accommodating those areas in which they are less confident. Lessons are tailored to meet the needs of all learners in the class.
Our remedial department provides support to those learners with specific needs and we are fortunate enough to have both a speech therapist and an occupational therapist who work from our school.
An ethos of sharing and interacting positively with peers is encouraged amongst the learners. Positive reinforcement and motivation of learners is crucial to successful classroom management, and the balance between firm discipline and reward is achieved by our teachers. Our school has two Foundation Phase counselors available to counsel individual learners in need, or to provide guidance to a whole class.
All of our teachers are dedicated and committed to providing a quality education and our Foundation Phase is a happy and vibrant place to learn and have fun!
Intermediate / Senior Phase The Intermediate phase includes Grade 4 to 6 and the Senior Phase our grade 7's.
In these well-disciplined phases, we continue to add to the building blocks set in the Foundation Phase using Outcomes Based Education.
Our grades are 3 or 4 streams and the learners work in spacious, attractive and well equipped classrooms. Our excellent educators are trained in using the latest technology. They use innovative methods to make lessons enjoyable and interesting. They take an interest in each child, enabling the child to reach their individual potential. We provide both enrichment and remedial lessons to cater for all needs within our daily programme. We have a guidance counselor who deals with social and emotional issues in the classes, in support groups, as well as on an individual basis.
We have a well equipped computerized library and 2 computer rooms. We provide separate art, music, physical education and design and technology classes, as well as Xhosa as a third language.
At Kirstenhof, our learners are encouraged to take pride in themselves and their work. They become responsible, self disciplined and respectful individuals who are socially well adjusted and a credit to our school and their parents.
